The Region VI Human Services & Disasters Summit brought together human services and emergency management officials from across the five-state region to promote the effective delivery of human services to vulnerable populations during emergencies and disasters. Summit topics included:

• Disabilities Competencies for Disasters
• The Katrina Recovery Effort
• Overview of the National Shelter System, National Mass Evacuation Tracking System, National Emergency Family Relocation System, National Emergency Child Locator Center, and Safe and Well System
• Children, Older Americans and the Homeless in Disasters
• Strategies for Faith-Based and Government Disaster Planning
• Promising Practices
